Sparking Hope for Hillside

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Northside Atlanta recently joined together for a simple act with a heartfelt purpose. After Hillside CEO Emily Acker visited the club on December 4 to share an update on their Connecting Communities project, members surprised her with a jar filled with more than one hundred brightly colored craft sticks. Each stick carried a hand written motivational message created especially for the kids at Hillside.

The goal was to offer words that lift spirits and remind every young person that they matter. Hope, encouragement, courage, and resilience were common themes. The finished jar became a collection of small prompts meant to brighten a difficult moment or spark a smile.

Emily accepted the gift on behalf of the Hillside team and shared her appreciation for the thoughtful gesture. For members, it was a meaningful way to show support for the children Hillside serves and to reinforce the power of community. Small acts can carry a big message. In this case, it was a message of hope delivered one colorful stick at a time.
